A high-level all-party Indian delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi arrived in Moscow on Wednesday as part of India’s global diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor, aimed at reinforcing the nation’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism. The delegation was welcomed at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport by India’s Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar.

According to the Indian Embassy in Moscow, the visit underscores India’s continued commitment to countering terrorism and confronting disinformation following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. “The delegation will carry forth the country’s strong message of zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” the embassy stated.

Comprising members from across party lines, the delegation includes Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai, BJP MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta (Retd.), RJD MP Prem Chand Gupta, AAP MP Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, and former Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri. The visit includes engagements with Russian lawmakers from the Federation Council and the State Duma, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, think tanks, and media.

Speaking to ANI prior to departure, MP Kanimozhi emphasized the importance of a united national voice against terrorism. “We lost 26 lives to terrorism, and we want to talk about what happened and what is happening in this country because of terrorism. There are vested interests trying to create different stories, so the truth has to be told,” she said.

Highlighting the bipartisan nature of the initiative, she added, “All of us stand together when it comes to the security and sovereignty of this country. There is no difference of opinion on that.”

The delegation’s outreach forms part of a broader diplomatic tour that will also include stops in Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain. This is the third group of lawmakers dispatched under India’s Operation Sindoor diplomatic campaign following similar visits to the UAE and Germany.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 as a direct response to the Pahalgam attack, with the Indian Armed Forces conducting precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. India’s military response neutralized over 100 terrorists and was followed by effective countermeasures against Pakistani retaliation, targeting airbases and communication infrastructure.

An agreement to halt military escalation was later reached following communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries.

India’s ongoing diplomatic efforts are focused on rallying international support, combating misinformation, and presenting a unified national front against terrorism.
